1. Introduction to Domain Mapping

  1. Prerequisites:
    • *Domain mapping is available for Starter Sites and not applicable to the free Lite Sites.
    • This guide demonstrates the process specifically for GoDaddy users.
    • Understand that the IP address provided during the process is crucial for mapping your domain correctly.

2. Mapping Your Domain

  1. Accessing GoDaddy Account:

    • Log in to your GoDaddy account and navigate to the "Account" section.
    • Click on the "Add Domain" button in the "Domains" section at the bottom right.
  2. Domain Mapping Pop-up:

    • Read the pop-up instructions carefully. Note the IP address provided; copy it as it's essential for the next steps.
  3. Configuring DNS Records:

    • Locate your domain in the GoDaddy domain portfolio and click on "DNS" to access DNS records.
    • If your domain is parked, the A record will already be present.
    • Click on "Edit" for the A record. Keep the type as A, the name as the "@" symbol, and modify the value by pasting the copied IP address.
    • Leave TTL (Time To Live) at 600 seconds and click "Save."
    • If your domain is pointing elsewhere, edit the A record similarly.
  4. Completing the Mapping Process:

    • Return to the previously opened pop-up and click "Next Step."
    • Enter your domain name (without HTTP or www) and enable "Select as Primary Domain."
    • Click "Add Domain."
  5. Verification and Propagation:

    • Go back to your GoDaddy account, where the domain mapping process will be displayed as "Checking DNS."
    • Wait for approximately 10-20 minutes for the domain to propagate (it could take up to 24 hours).
    • Refresh your browser after this time. Your site should now be accessible via your custom domain.
  6. Note on Propagation Issues:

    • Occasionally, minor styling issues might occur during the propagation process.
    • Refresh your site a few times, clear your browser cache, and revisit after some time for full propagation.
    • Propagation could take up to 24 hours.
    • If issues persist, contact support for assistance.

Congratulations! Your custom domain is now successfully mapped to your Starter Site. If you encounter any problems or have questions, feel free to reach out to our support team for further assistance.
